CLOSING REPORT

internship

Specific skills that i had to use during my internship was being able to work with children. During this camp I was working with children from third to fifth grade. During my 40 hours of working there, the kids were hard to keep control of at first. As time went on and i built relationships with these kids, it became easier to get them to listen to me and to make sure that they were staying safe and staying out of trouble.  I learned how to work with kids and organize games and activities that were fun and kept them busy. Making sure they stick to their schedules and got where they needed to go.  An obstacle that I faced was finding new ways to keep them entertained, and keeping them on task. They would be interested in something and pay attention for about five minutes and then they would be on to the next thing. I expected the internship to be mainly just helping kids with baseball, but it was a little different. Baseball was a main part of the camp but also there were other games like kickball and stuff that we organized for the kids. We spent most of the time at the baseball field as i expected, but i did not expect it to be as hot as it was out there. It was very hot and i was not expecting that. Overall i think that it was a good experience and i have plans to go back and work there over this upcoming summer again. I made good relationships with the other counselors there and as well as the kids at the camp as well.
